Alexandra Maria Lara, a Romanian and German actress, who has worked in television and film, is most well-known for her roles in films like Rush and Downfall Youth Without Youth Control. As the sole one child to Romanian actress Valentin Platareanu Alexandra stepped into the show business at an early age and was acting in lead roles on various television dramas by the time she was just 16. Her highly acclaimed performance on the film for television that she made Der Tunnel paved way for other notable roles including that in the role of Hitler's Secretary Traudl Junge in the critically and commercially profitable Oscar nominated historical war drama film Downfall. The Reader, Der Baader Meinhof Komplex and The Reader are also Oscar-nominated movies featuring this female diva. Over the years Alexandra has been involved in a variety of noteworthy national and international projects. These include British biographical film Control Greek drama film The Dust of Time as well as the French historic mini-series Napoleon and many more. The actress was also a member of juries for the Transylvania International Film Festival, and at Cannes Film Festival.
